So many things are happening in our world right now! Is your summer busy too?
Ash is learning to drive and going thru the classroom part of driver training each weekend. He’s learning to drive a standard also! He got his ears pierced…and though I was quite skeptical, I must say, they look great! He’s taking voice lessons, getting better on his guitar and learning to play the bass that he bought himself.
Eli is working his way through the Eragon series by Christopher Paolini and has devoured the first two books and is working on the third. These are big books! I’m so glad to see him reading for long hours instead of demanding to be plugged in all the time. (In the time since I started this post, he has actually finished all four books! Way to go E!)
My grandmother, affectionately called Grammy, is a month shy of 103 years old…but her health has declined greatly in the past few weeks. We’re not sure what will be happening there.
We spent the 4th of July Holiday at Burr Oak State Park. We had lots of plans, but the rain really put a damper on much of our fun. (Pun intended!) We didn’t get to hike the way we wanted to, because the trails were a muddy mess. Nevertheless, we managed to have a good time! Here are some recent photos.
It was good to come home. After about 20 days of rain, we’re finally having a beautiful, sun-shiny day! Hope it helps to perk people up and reduce some of Eli’s stress, which has been plaguing him this week. I thought for certain that the full moon was right around the corner, based on the high anxiety and the knee jerk reactions we’ve been living with. But the next Full Moon isn’t until July 22nd….must be the new moon from the beginning of this week that has him so psyched up.
We’re running out of summer. Only 5 weeks left before the boys start back to school. We’re going to try to cram as much fun into it as possible! I’m off the week of August 12th but our plans have been altered. So we’ll do a “Stay-cation” instead and do some super fun things as a family. I have a few things in mind already, and it’ll be cheaper than traveling. Gotta make the most of what we can in this economy!
Truthfully, we usually just have a blast hanging out as a family so we don’t have to go to far away places to have fun.
